Graduating from the University of Otago in New Zealand in 1986, I was commissioned as a dental officer in the New Zealand armed forces. Serving this profile of young, healthy personnel was a privilege and an education, with a wide network of dental specialists to learn from.
Moving to London in 1990, I began what is now a 20 year unbroken career in general practice.
I am married with 3 teenage daughters and jiggling a busy family life with a career is a knack, yet both roles add value to the other.
My joy remains in the sheer variety of treatment required and requested daily in this established practice. Each day is unlike the one before, making different choices and applying different skills.
It is still a huge thrill making a small difference to each patient and knowing its task complete when I get the smile!
